Minoan Lines Int

Minoan Lines holds a prominent position in the Greek Shipping Industry, with its headquarters situated in Heraklion, Crete. Since becoming a part of the Grimaldi Group in 2008, the company has been dedicated to delivering convenience, luxury, and safety to its passengers, marking significant growth over the past decades.

Operating primarily between Athens and Crete (Piraeus port to Heraklion and Chania), Minoan Lines has expanded its itinerary to include several Cycladic islands such as Milos, Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, and Ios. Additionally, the company operates a route connecting Patra and Italy, further broadening its maritime reach.

Established in the maritime industry since 1972, Minoan Lines underwent a substantial fleet renewal between 1998 and 2002. Currently equipped with modern and advanced high-speed ferries utilizing the latest technology, the fleet includes three conventional ferries—Knossos Palace, Festos Palace, and Kydon Palace—and one high-speed vessel, Santorini Palace, servicing 12 destinations.

Minoan Lines' cruise ferries boast a modern design, offering a range of amenities such as restaurants, garages, WiFi access, cabins for overnight trips, designated areas for pets, and facilities catering to disabled passengers. Some vessels go beyond these basics, providing additional features like gyms, spa centers, or conference rooms. The company actively promotes the use of electronic tickets for passenger convenience.

Prioritizing high-quality services and safety, Minoan Lines has garnered numerous awards over the years. These accolades include the "Passenger Line of the Year" title by Lloyd's List in 2016, the "Best Greek Coastal Shipping Company" title at the Greek Hospitality Awards of 2020, and several recognitions at the Tourism Awards.

In line with a commitment to eco-friendly transportation, Minoan Lines takes a pioneering step as the first Greek ferry company to install an exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubbers) on its vessels, showcasing a dedication to sustainable practices within the maritime industry.

  • Good ferry company

    [Translated from German]
Good and unproblematic booking process. Boarding uncomplicated. Good equipment of the ferry, everything was clean. On time departure and arrival.

  • Horrible, Don’t waste your time

Terrible service as both of the ferries we booked were cancelled and we were not informed via email or phone of the cancellation until we showed up to the port. They claimed that they alerted us however considering the fact that the rest of the passengers were there and just as clueless as us, it clearly was just a statement to avoid admitting fault. The response we were given was “oh sorry” and there was nothing done to help remedy the situation. If you’re going to spend the money, spend it on a flight between the islands instead of the ferry.

  • Dissatisfaction

The boat was cancelled suddenly and without prior notice, resulting in us just staying on the island. Finally bought a plane ticket back to Athens at a high price. I was very unhappy with the trip.

Answer by Ferriesingreece Thank you for your feedback. We would like to inform you that your trip was cancelled due to bad weather for your safety.
In such force majeure conditions, the cancellation of a trip is decided by the port authorities a few hours before the vessel's departure time and this is also why we informed you about the cancellation on the same day of your departure.
The ferry company, Minoan lines, transferred your ticket to depart on the next day at no extra cost but since you rejected this option we cancelled and totally refunded the ticket rate that you had paid for this trip. Kindly notice that in case of a cancelled itinerary the ferry company is only responsible to refund the total ticket rate and not any further expenses that may occur. This is also in accordance with the terms and conditions that you accepted before proceeding with this booking.
    Always at your disposal.

  • Total Disorganization

    [Auto translated]
I have a hard time explaining the fact that you are constantly working with the public, and you don't get more structured than that.

    1. I saw a Ferry so the customers had to carry their suitcases up the stairs by hand....What a mess!
    2. The entrance to get on board is in the same place as the cars.
    3. The people are crowded in extreme heat and are not clearly directed, if we have to go to the left or right, apart from the fact, that they continuously shout you "Let's Go, Let's Go and we are in a queue....so impossible to run, and this is not the purpose, I HOPE.
    4. With the Sound of Boarding Alarms blaring as well, to advise that boarding is about to end (and often, this caused by a DELAY from your Company itself.
    5. We have to drop off our bags wherever we want to go OUFFF and what a mess it is to find our bags being pushed, dropped and dirtied by other customers. OUFFFF!
    6. The entrance to board is often managed by only 1 or 2 employees, which does not give efficiency. 7) When exiting, the cars get out at the same time as the customers. .... What a risk of accident! 8. I sincerely think that it would be of CAPITAL IMPORTANCE to see to restructure your ways of making, since the comments that I collected around me were very negative and I often heard "ITS CRAZY" Good luck for the future and please improve this service which is more than necessary.

  • To recommend

    [Translated by Ferriesingreece]
We did the Paros / Santorini crossing on the Santorini Palace and no complaints. Very comfortable boat, possibility of going outside, perfect service on board.

  • 3 hours late

It could have been made clear in the booking process that there are two ports at Patra. The ferry was 2 hours late boarding and 3 hours late arriving. Furthermore, we were not allowed off the ferry in Ancona for another 20 minutes by when the regular shuttle bus to the station had finished. Some regular travellers thought this delay was normal, in which case it should be in the schedule. Teachers with groups of schoolchildren had a particularly difficult time. The time of arrival seems designed to just avoid EU compensation regulations. On arrival foot passengers should either be allowed off first, or they should be able to leave the ferry on the other side so that they do not have to cross the vehicle route to get to the arrivals office. The cafeteria meals were both very large and very expensive - half portions and half prices would be batter. Otherwise lovely - good cabin etc.

  • Santorini on a boat from Heraklion

    [Translated from Russian]
We went to Santorini from Heraklion on High Speedboats (overnight, Ikarus hotel was rented), travel time 1 hour 50 minutes.
A very comfortable ship, better than in the plane (compare business class).
On the way back there was a delay with an arrival for half an hour - apparently there were lining due to traffic density on the pier of Santorini. In general, normal, acceptable food - at their own expense.
For two people, the tickets costed 250 euro, from the tour operator they would cost 400 euro.

  • Great Ferry and service

    [Translated from Russian]
I took a ferry from Crete to Santorini and back with Santorini Palace by Minoan Lines. Tickets were booked and paid in advance via the Internet. On the day of departure, we received tickets from the port for both directions. The ferry arrived and departed without much delay. There were no problems with embarking / disembarking. Everything was organized well. The route itself also does not cause problems. Calmness, a lot of places, you can walk while traveling.
"Santorini Palace" really goes very quickly, I did not think that such a colossus could travel at such speed.

    [Original text]
«Santorini Palace» действительно идёт очень быстро, не думал что такая махина может гнать с такой скоростью.
